That's right, I will be doing an author talk this Saturday (7 April) at Frome Library at 10.30am and I'm not going to lie, I'm scared!
Just because I have not done one of these talks before and it really doesn't come naturally to me, speaking in public, this is not going to be an easy task to complete. Nevertheless, it will be a new experience and provided there are actually people to speak to, I'm sure it will all be fine.
I am a worrier and so uncertain situations always provoke lot of silly thoughts in my head like, what if no one turns up, or what if I get it all wrong?!
My last event which turned out very well in the end, was a couple of weeks ago at Bristol University's Balloon Bar and I must admit I had come straight from having had a bit of a difficult time at work to this bar and it really could have gone downhill if it weren't for a very good friend of mine who managed to keep me afloat and did all the right things.
You know how it is if something upsets you, at work or home or anywhere, and you have to be somewhere still and you make yourself go, but inside all you feel is self-pity and if someone's too nice to you, all you want to do is cry. Well, that's how I felt and it's a real shame I allowed myself to feel like that because it got in the way of me preparing for the event properly. My chosen marketing company also let me down by not being able to deliver some signage I had ordered on time, so I had to make signs myself which looked ok, but professional ones would have been much better.
From this little recent experience of mine, I have spent today preparing for my next event to avoid a repeat of any of the above.
I would like to share what inspired me to write the book and to answer any questions anyone may have, so please come along, even out of curiosity.
If anyone would also like to share any similar experiences with me please email me: email@example.com or post on my Facebook page - I would love to hear your thoughts!
